How simpleSwitch Works
Appliance to appliance share
simpleSwitch is an automatic load management device that intelligently balances power between two appliances. When the primary device (like an oven or HVAC) is active, the secondary device (such as an EV charger) temporarily pauses. Once the primary is off, power resumes automatically, ensuring safe electrical switching and efficient load sharing.
Whole Home Circuit Share
simpleSwitch, a load sharing device and smart device for your electrical panel, monitors your entire home’s power usage. When total energy reaches 80% of panel capacity, it temporarily pauses connected appliances (like EVSE circuits or high-demand devices). Once usage drops below 80%, power automatically resumes, ensuring safe, efficient load sharing without costly panel upgrades.
How It Works
simpleSwitch intelligently manages power between two appliances. When the primary device is in use (like your oven or HVAC), it temporarily pauses the secondary device (such as an EV charger). Once the primary device is off, the secondary device automatically resumes.
Quick Answers To Common Questions

How Does simpleSwitch Integrate with My Existing Electrical System?
simpleSwitch, an energy management device, connects directly to your existing electrical panel and shares power between two appliances. It manages load distribution safely without requiring panel upgrades, making integration seamless.

Is Professional Installation Required for simpleSwitch?
While simpleswitch is designed for quick, easy installation, professional installation is recommended to ensure everything is safely set up and configured for your home or multi-family building.

What Appliances Can I Add Using simpleSwitch?
You can connect high-demand appliances like EV chargers, ovens, HVAC systems, dryers, and water heaters. For precise load sharing and advanced energy management, pair simpleSwitch with our Clamp Style CTs or Flex Rope CTs for seamless integration across your home or multiple appliances.

How Does simpleSwitch Help Save on Energy Costs?
By eliminating the need for expensive panel upgrades and optimizing electrical load sharing, simpleSwitch reduces installation costs and maximizes energy efficiency.

How to configure simpleSwitch?
Go to Install instructions and set Dip Switches to match your electrical install. Settings are done in the field.

Can the 50 Amp Model Work with 120-Volt Power?
Yes. Adjust the jumper to the 2 up/down position to use simpleSwitch with 120-volt circuits.

What Happens if a CT Reading Fails or a Cable is Cut?
The automatic load management device uses the larger of the two CT readings for control. If a CT is missing or damaged, the unit defaults to full current for that CT and shuts down the share to maintain safety.

Will the simpleSwitch work with a GFCI breaker?
Yes. simpleSwitch works with GFCI breakers and does not interfere with their operation, whether installed before or after the unit.

Why Does the GFCI Trip When Sharing a Range with an EV Outlet?
Older ranges with a three-wire connection may be incompatible with GFCI breakers. Install GFCI protection downstream for the EV outlet and use a standard breaker in the panel for the range.

Can I Share Two Appliances with Different Amp Requirements?
Yes. Connect the higher-amp circuit (e.g., 40A) to simpleSwitch, then install a smaller breaker for the lower-amp appliance (e.g., 30A). This load sharing switch ensures safe and efficient power distribution.
